Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday is the first day of the season of Lent, the 40 days that precede Easter. In the Bible the number 40 is a number which marks a time in which God is at work to bring redemption: 40 days Noah spent in the ark, 40 years the Israelites wandered in the desert, and 40 days that Jesus spent in the desert after his baptism. For us these 40 days are a call to renewal. In these 40 days we commit ourselves to greater introspection, more focused time of reflection, and deeper dedication to let Christ live in and through us.
