What is the difference between a Deacon and a Pastor?

A Deacon is called to Word and Service Ministry and is able to preach, but does not preside at the sacraments.

A Pastor is called to Word and Sacrament Ministry and while preaching presides at the sacraments of Holy Communion and Baptism.

How long will it take for Servant of Christ to call a new Pastor/ Deacon of Children’s Ministry?

We don’t know the exact timeline, but we do know that the Minneapolis Area Synod will begin forwarding candidates names to the Call Committee around June 1st.

On June 25th, the Call Committee met with Assistant to the Bishop John Hulden and received the candidates’ names and instructions about the interview process. Interviews will be scheduled in July. Please keep the Call Committee in your prayers.

March 23rd Call Committee Installed during Sunday Worship

April 6th and April 13th, between and after Sunday worship: Call Committee Survey available for the Congregation to complete either online or on paper

April 27th at 11:30 AM – Congregational Forum with Bishop Jen Nagel to review Ministry Site Profile

August 28th – The Call Committee continues to receive candidate names from the Minneapolis Area Synod and to interview candidates who may be a good fit. Please pray for the next Pastor being called to Servant of Christ and the ongoing work of the Call Committee.

February 8th - Special Cong Meeting

A Special Congregational Meeting was held to call an Associate Pastor of Children’s Ministry. Motion was passed.

March 1st - Bryce Bommersbach Sr has been called as our Associate Pastor of Children's ministry. His ordination will be March 28th at 3:00pm at his home church

of Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, MN.
